Opportunities for Giving
The Eberly College of Science maintains a high level of distinction in teaching, research, and public service in each of its scientific disciplines. The college seeks the help of friends and supporters to enhance recruitment, retain the most talented and dedicated faculty and students, and provide them with the best facilities, materials, resources, and opportunities.
Featured Objectives
The College is seeking support for the following:
-
academic excellence initiatives such as the creation of the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics and the Center for Excellence in Science Education, as well as an increase in the scope and breadth of the college's outreach efforts;
-
scholarships, awards, and fellowships such as the Trustee Matching Scholarship program and Distinguished Graduate Fellowships;
-
faculty support to provide flexibility in addressing critical needs of faculty and endowed faculty positions;
-
sustaining support to create a discretionary pool of funds critical to moving the college forward in new and innovative ways, and;
- capitol projects to include the chemistry and life sciences buildings.
Private support in these critical areas will enhance the college's ability to attract and support distinguished faculty and outstanding students.
The college's fundraising efforts focus largely on increasing the endowment. Since endowments grow and continue to support their intended purposes far into the future, they are the best assets available to the college to address its long-term needs effectively. Endowments are crucial for the college to:
- maintain and continually enhance the high-quality educational opportunities it offers;
- explore and forge new avenues in scientific research and discovery;
- and share its knowledge with those outside of the academic community.
