Investing in People Initiative
Scholarships
Every year, we lose bright, talented students because they can't afford to attend Penn State. Others work multiple jobs while carrying a full course load, and yet students are graduating with an average debt burden of over $18,000.
Penn State's Board of Trustees approved a groundbreaking philanthropy program that makes donors partners with the University in supporting our students. Through the Trustee Matching Scholarship Program, scholarship endowments have their average payout matched, in perpetuity, from the University's operating budget.
Gifts to Trustee Matching Scholarships will have twice as much impact on the lives of students, doubling the amount of scholarship dollars available for distribution. The program is an invitation to you to become our partner in ensuring that Penn State still represents opportunity for generations to come.

Faculty Endowments
Endowed chairs and professorships are the best way to ensure that Penn State can compete for the faculty who will lead us in institutional excellence. They support the development of innovative courses and teaching strategies, attract renowned visiting professors, and initiative special student projects and programs.

College Excellence
Penn State is already home to groundbreaking programs in a variety of fields. Opportunities exist in every college and on every campus, however, we need to build upon our strengths and create programs that will make a difference in the future.
The most important developments are emerging from programs that encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and fuel innovative methods of teaching and learning.

Intercollegiate Athletics
Unlike most nationally competitive programs, Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics must support itself. The state and the University offer no financial assistance toward the enormous cost of fielding and supporting twenty-nine varsity sports. Tickets, advertising, and merchandise sales don't cover the cost of scholarships, student-athlete support services, facilities salaries, health care, and all the many other expenses.

Hershey Medical Center
As the only academic medical center serving the expansive Central Pennsylvania area Hershey Medical Center and the Penn State College of Medicine hold a unique position.
We are seeking private support to launch two initiatives that will change the state of health care: creating a permanent home for both the Penn State Children's Hospital and Penn State Cancer Institute .
