The President's Club
Established in 1991, The Penn State President's Club recognizes individuals whose annual unrestricted support provides critical resources for programs across the University. These funds allow Penn State to meet urgent needs, including scholarships and laboratory equipment, and seize unique opportunities, such as the chance to bring leading artists and scholars to campuses.
Levels of Recognition
In recognition of Penn State's proud heritage and traditions, members of the President's Club are recognized by gift levels named for prominent former Presidents of the University.
Edwin E. Sparks Circle
Edwin E. Sparks (term: 1908-1921) emphasized Penn State's service to Pennsylvania by creating a system of county agricultural agents and permanent outreach programs in engineering and other fields. An engaging speaker, he was the first president to travel extensively throughout the Commonwealth, educating the public about the land-grant mission and winning widespread grassroots support for Penn State. Gifts of $5,000 or more qualify at this level.
Ralph D. Hetzel Circle
Ralph D. Hetzel (term: 1927-1947) presided over major expansions of the campus physical plant (including such landmark facilities as Rec Hall, Old Main, and Pattee Library) to meet unprecedented enrollment demands. He led the way in founding the first permanent undergraduate centers-forerunners of today's 24 Penn State campuses across the Commonwealth-to assist students who were location-bound by the hardships of the Great Depression. Gifts between $2,500 and $4,999 qualify at this level.
Milton S. Eisenhower Circle*
Milton S. Eisenhower (term: 1950-1956) initiated the name change from the Pennsylvania State College to The Pennsylvania State University to reflect the growing importance of research and graduate studies as part of the institution's land-grant mission. The establishment of the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor and the Penn State Press exemplified Eisenhower's overall success in gaining national distinction for Penn State as a center for higher learning. Gifts between $1,500 and $2,499 qualify at this level.
* Only Alumni and friends who are 35 years of age and younger will be offered membership in the Milton S. Eisenhower Circle. Membership is based on the age of the younger spouse/partner.
