Why I Believe Giving Back is Important:
I first got involved through my church ministry. But it was from my mom that I learned the importance of giving back to the community and those in need. She taught me and my sisters to be responsible by encouraging us to put half of the money we earned doing chores into a special account. I used part of my savings to buy a laptop for college, and the rest I donated to a local nursing home where I was a volunteer.
I decided to join the Senior Class Gift Committee in order to be an integral part of giving back to Penn State. I want to leave something behind so that in the future, when I return to campus, I’ll see the 2009 Class Gift and be reminded of my time here and the ways that I made a difference.
